Laser Therapy accelerates the body’s natural healing process through photo-bio-modulation. This means that through the use of laser light, the cellular activity within cells accelerates, causing faster healing and pain relief. The treatments are pain-free, and typically take just a few minutes each time, varying depending on the area of concern. Therapy laser treatments are a drug-free alternative for pain management and treatment of many issues.
A variety of ailments can be treated with therapy laser, including:
- wounds or post-surgical sites
- arthritis or age-related pain
- ear infections
- muscle sprains or strains
- post surgical healing of orthopedic surgeries
- swelling or edema
- and many more
What should I expect?
Therapeutic laser treatments begin with an evaluation by a veterinarian, to determine if your pet will benefit from laser therapy treatments. The doctors will discuss frequency and lengths of treatments, which vary from patient to patient. Once the evaluation is complete, our veterinary technicians will administer the laser treatments. Laser treatments are safe, and pain-free, so your pet will not experience any discomfort during the process. The laser beam is emitted through a handpiece that the technician moves over the targeted area of the body. Typically, treatments take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, but may be longer if there are multiple sites. Each treatment is different, depending on the issue and the animal. When the treatment is completed, you can take your pet home; there is typically no additional hospitalization or after care required.
